Now why all this

Well some internet and real life friends of mine from the UK and other places have, over the years, developed some increasing urge to visit Hawaii. And whilst we were discussing this recently, the idea was born, that I could celebrate my 65th birthday there and they join me for a week or so.

Some people thought, next year, 2013 might be a bit early for them, having to scramble the money together, so it might become Hawaii66 in 2014. Who knows, one has to start somewhere with this sort of thing and I thought, this might provide a bit information and – equally important – raise the ‘desire levels’ a bit for such a trip.

And I explained to one of my friends, the difference we sometimes make in German between Einladung und Aufforderung (invitation and encouragement) The key difference is that when given an invitation, usually the inviting party pays. Given an encouragement to come, the encouraged pays everything for him/herself.

So this is en encouragement to come to Hawaii.
