In 2008, as part of my 60ties birthday celebration My European friends and I did a safari tour

with the ultimate aim of seeing the Mountain Gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable forest.
The whole trip was four days long and we drove in two four wheel drives.
Bwindi is in the far west of Uganda on the border with the Republic of Congo. The whole trip is about 400 km one way. On the way west, we broke up the trip into two sections with one stop-over in Mburo,

with the night spent in the fantastic Mihingo Lodge.

And after doing some Safari travelling, watching the wildlife and pottering around on Lake Mburo for a few hours, we came to Bwindi and made ourselves comfortable in Buhoma lodge.

On the third day it was time to start the arduous climb up the hill through the jungle to see the gorillas.
